Pandemic Lesson

Bank Failure, The Pandemic, and One Personal Lesson

March is never a dull month. Three US banks collapsed in one week.

Who would have thought that the bank casualties did not happen at the onset of the pandemic, but three years later with the flood and retreat of the liquidity?

This reminds me of the early phase of the COVID treatment, patients tragically died from the immune storm - too strong immune responses that meant to kill the virus.

In the last 3 years, things have been evolving fast in an unpredictable fashion. It makes you wonder the value of those 5 year corporate plans.

There are many things we can learn from the last 3 years.

For me, the biggest lesson is:

  • Stay humble.

  • There are things we do not know that exist.

  • There are things we do not know how they develop.

  • There are things we do not know how they intertwine.

It is amazing that things are evolving in their own ways, much like the planets and the universe.

Meanwhile, no matter how well-intentioned the interventions, there are unintended consequences.

Each path we choose to go down, there is unique risk along the way.

Stay humble.

Be critical of what you read and hear. The mightiest and brightest have not made a lot of correct calls.

Be critical of our own beliefs. The world continues to evolve. We need to be open-minded - explore, adapt to, and thrive in the new world.

That is my biggest takeaway from the last 3 years.

What is your biggest lesson from the pandemic?
